Abesco CT120 Cable Transits consist of a square section steel sleeve, which contains the heat reactive intumescent material. What happens in a Fire Situation?

When exposed to the heat of a fire, the graphite based intumescent material contained in the Abesco CT120 Cable Transits expands rapidly to close and seal the inside of the sleeve, preventing the spread of fire from one compartment to another.

Where to use Abesco CT120 Cable Transits

Abesco CT120 Cable Transits are suitable for use in any building where electrical, data, or communication cables penetrate through fire rated compartment floors and walls, including drywall.

  • The Cable Transit firestop consist of a square steel sleeve with heat reactive graphite based intumescent material.

  • If exposed to high temperatures of 300° F, the intumescent material will rapidly expand to form a solid insulating char plug to seal and prevent the passage of fire or smoke.

  • Underwriters Laboratory UL Classified 1 and 2 hour rating

Fire is a dangerous enough phenomenon that redundancy in fire protection is necessary.  Having passive protection in place helps assure building occupants that there will be time to exit before gasses, fire and smoke spread throughout the building.  If  active systems fail, as they often do, then there is still a passive system in place for life safety.

It is the use of many products designed for specific firestop applications that
comprise a complete passive firestop fire protection systems. When installed properly,
